Project Summary: Type of Project:  60 Student Boarding House Mezzanine Installation and Refurbishment Gross Internal Area (GIA): Increased from 707m² to 830m² Construction Cost: £1.175 million (2022) Works Undertaken: Installation of mezzanine level, full refurbishment and modernisation of boarding accommodation and associated facilities, completed within an 8-week summer holiday period This project involved the installation of a mezzanine level within a double-height space of an existing boarding house outer quadrangle, along with the full refurbishment and modernisation of the boarding accommodation and associated facilities. The site features historic architecture dating back to the mid-19th century, constructed in a Gothic architectural style. As the buildings are Grade II listed, the project required a sensitive approach to design and construction. The new mezzanine was carefully integrated within the existing structure to preserve the architectural character of the site.
